Come and join our next beginners course!

Starting on Sunday 25th October, our next course will be a great opportunity to get into archery. We will provide all the equipment you need, and will cover range safety, basic technique, and demonstrate different kinds of bows. Archery is about precision and repeatability, so good technique is vital to get good scores.

The course runs from two hours each Sunday morning from 10:30. We run the course over six sessions, but you only need four to complete it. The course fee is £50 for adults and £25 for juniors. Book in via the link below and we will send you payment details. We will give you an exercise band to keep to practice the movements, and a certificate at the end.

It is indoors at Ludgvan Community Centre, which now has heating! Wear close-fitting clothing so there is nothing that might catch the string. Long hair is best tied back for the same reason. Footwear must be enclosed, so no crocs or sandals, please. Here are the links to book your place,

On Sunday 20th September we are putting on a taster session whilst we build up numbers for a full beginners’ course to start probably in late October. The taster will be two hours from 11am to 1pm at Holman Sports Club, Camborne. It will cost £10, but if you go on to join the beginners course we will knock that £10 of the fee.

All equipment is provided. Places are limited, and we have several places already filled. Do get in touch to book your place.

Our next introductory course will start on Sunday 24th May at Holman Sports Club in Camborne. Everybody is welcome who would like to give target archery a try. The course is 4 sessions of two hours per session, from 10:30 to 12:30 each Sunday morning. We provide all the equipment you need, which will be based on a recurve bow as these are easiest to get started with.

We start with introductions to us, then get you kitted out, then go through the safety rules. Every session also starts with a gentle warm-up routine before you start shooting. Target archery is about trying to get all your arrows as close as possible to the centre, and the technique we teach is based on ArcheryGB standards developed over many years. You will be taught by qualified coaches and other experienced archers.

You can then join the club if you would like to carry on shooting.

The course fee is £40 for an adult and £20 for a junior (under 18). That fee covers all four sessions. Book via the links below and we will send you details on how to pay.

The course is 4 sessions from 10:30 to 12:30 on consecutive Sunday mornings, although we will extend it a week or two in case anyone can’t make a session. We provide all the kit you need at a cost of £40 for adults and £20 for juniors for the whole course.

Do you think you might want to take up archery, but are not sure? Our next beginners course is open for booking! Starting on Sunday 27th April at 10:30, at Holmans Sports Club, Camborne, the course runs for four sessions on consecutive Sundays for two hours each session.

We will teach you the essentials of good shooting and give you the chance to see and try out different kinds of bow. All equipment is provided. See the Starting Archery page for more information and a link to the online booking form. Places are limited to make sure we give everyone proper attention, so booking is essential!

A lot has happened at AotW in the last couple of months. After starting shooting at Holmans Sports Club earlier this year, we were getting a lot of interest building up, so started a beginners’ course in September. This was by far the biggest course we have ever done, with 34 people experiencing the joy of archery with us. At least, we hope everyone enjoyed it. Certainly some did, because, so far, 11 of them have joined. A few more tell us they will join shortly, so we look forward to welcoming them to the AotW family in due course.

With the new members, some of the indoor sessions are getting busy, so we are trying out an additional Friday evening session from 6:30 to 9:00 at Ludgvan Community Centre.

All the equipment you need is provided, and you will get a chance to try out different kinds of bow as well (recurve, longbow, compound and more).

The equipment we provide is good quality and perfect for beginners. Once you have finished the course you are welcome to carry on using the club equipment until you are ready to buy your own. Please don’t buy anything without talking to us first.
